Terms of Service

Welcome to Aura (“Aura”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Aura mobile application and related services (the “App”). By downloading, accessing, or using Aura, you agree to comply with these Terms.
If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use the App.
1. Eligibility
1.1 Minimum Age
Aura is intended for users aged 13 years or older. By creating an account, you confirm that you are at least 13 years old.
1.2 School Communities
Aura operates within school communities. Users may be asked to select their school and grade level.
Schools listed within Aura are sourced from publicly available educational databases such as the Common Core of Data (CCD) for United States schools.
Aura is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any school or educational institution listed in the database.
2. Account Registration
2.1 Account Information
To use Aura, users must create an account and provide:
- Username
- Email address
- School
- Grade level
Users must provide accurate information.
2.2 Account Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
Aura is not responsible for any loss or damage resulting from unauthorised access to your account.
2.3 Device Identification
Aura may use device identifiers to help operate the service, prevent abuse, and maintain platform integrity.
3. How Aura Works
Aura is an anonymous polling platform designed to allow users within the same school community to participate in positive polls. Users can:
- Answer polls about their peers
- Receive selections from other users
- Earn points through participation
- Receive anonymous gifts from other users
- Progress through profile tiers
3.1 Anonymous Participation
All poll selections and gifts are completely anonymous.
Users cannot see who selected them in polls or sent them gifts.
3.2 Poll Questions
All poll questions within Aura are created and moderated by the Aura team. Users cannot create their own poll questions or submit public content.
3.3 Notifications
Users may receive notifications when they are selected in polls or receive gifts. Notifications may occur periodically throughout the day.
4. Points, Levels, and Gifts
Users earn points through:
- Participating in polls
- Being selected by other users in polls
Points contribute to a user's profile level. Aura levels currently include:
4.1 Gifting System
Users may use points earned within the app to send virtual gifts to other users. These gifts:
- Are anonymous
- Have no monetary value
- Cannot be exchanged for cash or real-world items
4.2 Non-Transferable
Points, levels, and gifts are virtual items and cannot be sold or transferred outside the platform.
Aura reserves the right to modify or reset points and levels if abuse is detected.
5. Referral and Sharing Features
Aura may allow users to invite friends through external platforms such as Snapchat or other sharing tools. Users may earn referral points when friends join through shared invitations.
Users agree not to abuse referral systems through spam, fake accounts, or automated methods.
6. User Conduct
Users must use Aura respectfully and responsibly. You agree not to:
- Harass, bully, or intimidate other users
- Create fake accounts
- Impersonate another person
- Manipulate poll results
- Attempt to access accounts without permission
- Interfere with the normal operation of the App
Aura maintains a zero-tolerance policy for harassment or bullying. Violation of these rules may result in warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent account termination.
7. Blocking and Reporting
7.1 Blocking
Users may block other users within Aura. Blocking a user removes them from:
- Poll selections
- School lists
- Link lists
- Gift list
7.2 Reporting
Users can report accounts they believe violate these Terms. Reports may include a description of the issue submitted to our moderation team. Aura reviews reports and may take actions including warnings, removal from polls, suspension, or account termination.
In serious cases, reports may be forwarded to appropriate authorities.
8. Content Moderation and Safety
Aura is designed to minimise harassment risks by limiting user-generated content. The platform does not allow:
- Profile photos
- Public posts
- Messaging
- Comments
- User-created polls
- Free text content outside of reports
These restrictions are implemented to help maintain a safe environment for users. Aura reserves the right to review activity and take action where misuse is detected.
9. Data and Privacy
Aura collects limited personal data necessary to operate the platform. This may include:
- Username
- Email address
- School
- Grade
- Device identifiers
This data is used only to operate the service and maintain platform safety. Aura does not sell user data to third parties. Aura complies with applicable privacy laws including GDPR (United Kingdom / European Union) and applicable U.S. privacy regulations. Full details are outlined in our Privacy Policy.
10. Account Deletion
Users may request account deletion at any time through the app settings or by contacting support. When an account is deleted, personal account data will be removed and the account will no longer be accessible. Deletion requests are processed within a reasonable time period.
11. Service Availability
Aura is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may update, modify, or discontinue features at any time.
12. Future Monetisation
Aura is currently free to use. In the future, Aura may introduce subscriptions, in-app purchases, or premium features. Any payments made through the App will be processed through the relevant app store (Apple App Store or Google Play Store), and their payment terms will apply.
13. Intellectual Property
All elements of the Aura platform — including software, design, graphics, logos, poll systems, and point systems — are owned by Aura and protected by intellectual property laws. Users may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, or distribute any part of the platform without permission.
14. Limitation of Liability
Aura is a social entertainment platform. We are not responsible for user interactions, misuse of the platform, or emotional harm arising from social interactions within the app.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Aura shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of the App.
15. Termination
Aura reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts at our discretion, including for violations of these Terms, abuse of platform features, or behaviour that threatens user safety.
16. Governing Law
These Terms and any disputes arising out of or relating to them shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of law principles.
However, if you access or use Aura from a jurisdiction outside the United Kingdom, including the United States, you may also be entitled to the protections of applicable local consumer protection laws. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have under applicable laws in your jurisdiction that cannot legally be waived.
Users are responsible for ensuring their use of the App complies with all applicable laws in their local jurisdiction.
17. Changes to These Terms
Aura may update these Terms from time to time. Users will be notified of significant changes through in-app notifications, updates within the App, or email notifications. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of updated Terms.
